When eating food, we often don't think about what happened to the animals before they died. The animal cruelty that occurs in the agribusiness is a horrifying realization. We will be looking at pictures from six of the worst possible situations the animals can be put into. We hope this photo journal will open your eyes to the real life horror these animals endure.
1. Battery Cages
This confinement happens to approximately 95% of egg laying hens
Each hen in these cages has less room than a single piece of paper
They are also kept in windowless rooms with enclosures stacked from floor to ceiling
2. Fast Growth of Birds
Growth-promoting antibiotics used on chickens causes many structural problems and has a sickening effect on their everyday functions
Reports from University of Arkansas says that if humans grew as fast as these chickens are forced to, we would be 349lbs by the age of two
3. Forced Feeding for Foie Gras
Animals raised for this delicacy (Fatty Liver) are forced fed through pipes pushed down their throats straight into their stomachs
This force feeding causes their liver to swell ten times larger than the normal size of the liver
4. Veal and Gestation Crates
These animals clearly suffer by the cramped area provided by most pork producers in the United States
They cant even turn around or take more than one step in any direction
Calves raised for veal are kept in extremely tight compartments, and usually chained by the neck
5. Long Distance Transport
These animals are shoved into small trucks that do not provide any from weather elements
Deaths are not uncommon during transit because the animals are not provided with food, water, or rest
6. Electric Stunning of Birds
After the inhumane transport these birds received, they are thrown onto conveyors. They are then hung upside down in shackles by their feet
Their heads are passed through electrified water, hoping to paralyze them before their beheading
The stunning does not always work as planned, which causes pain and suffering beyond belief
Don't just let this happen to defenseless animals. You CAN make a difference by doing some simple life changes:
-Try to avoid consuming products from animal abusing corporations
-Donate or advocate for the Humane Society of the United States, which encourages the end to these procedures
